Africa Universities Network for DRR Visits ADMiR Premises

Cairo, Egypt – Members of the Africa Universities Network for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), attending the Africa Water Week, paid a visit to the African Disaster Mitigation Research Center (ADMiR) at the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) in Helwan, Cairo.
The delegation was warmly received by Prof. Mohamed ElGabry, Director of ADMiR, and Prof. Gad El-Qady, Senior Advisor of ADMiR, who provided an insightful introduction to the center’s mission and ongoing research activities.
During the visit, Sayed Mekhamir highlighted ADMiR’s key contributions to climate research in Africa, emphasizing the role of the center in advancing scientific understanding of climate risks and resilience.
The guests also had the opportunity to attend presentations by Mr. Waddah ElWaliy and Mr. Alhaj Moussa, two visiting scientists at ADMiR. They shared updates on their research projects, currently being conducted at the center, showcasing innovative approaches in disaster mitigation and climate resilience.
Following the presentations, a discussion on potential cooperation between the Africa Universities Network for DRR and ADMiR was held, exploring collaborative opportunities in disaster risk reduction, research exchange, and joint capacity-building initiatives.
The visit reflects ADMiR’s commitment to fostering regional partnerships and strengthening scientific networks across the African continent, aiming to enhance disaster resilience through knowledge sharing and collaborative research.
